Norm Matteoni and Robert Saxe (retired)—both graduates of the University of Notre Dame Law School and former county counsel attorneys with Santa Clara County—founded the firm based on their specialization in condemnation and land use law, which continues to be our focus.

Eminent Domain
Our firm primarily represents property owners including publicly-held corporations, local businesses, farm and ranch owners, business park owners and developers. The cases involve right-to-take challenges, inverse condemnation claims and compensation issues such as highest and best use, land and improvement value, damages to remaining property when only part of the land is taken, and loss of business goodwill. We do select public agency work. The firm also advises on Redevelopment Law related to condemnation.
